New Jersey
Background: On June 21, 2018 the New Jersey State Legislature passed Assembly Bill 4132 which amended the Tobacco and Nicotine Products Wholesale Sales and Use Tax. Governor Phil Murphy signed the bill on July 1 but the effective date of the Law was postponed until 29 September 2018 in order to give stakeholders extra time to prepare for implementation of the tax.
The tax was imposed at a rate of $0.10 per milliliter of liquid nicotine.
